The Opportunity
As Head of Corporate Banking, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth across our large corporate segment by:
- Leading a high-performing, diverse team of corporate banking professionals
- Delivering against strategic ambitions while ensuring highest standards of governance and regulatory compliance
- Shaping and delivering tailored, client-centric solutions that deepen relationships and unlock long-term value
Combining inspiring leadership with hands-on relationship management, you’ll encompass:
- Personal oversight of key strategic corporate clients
- Building an external presence across professional networks
- Impacting business growth, colleague engagement, client outcomes, and profitability
What You Will Do

Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of Corporate Directors, Managers, and Analysts, fostering an inclusive, high-engagement culture

Strategic Growth & Planning
- Deliver against the annual operating plan, driving sustainable growth across revenue, lending, and deposits
- Build and actively manage a strong, forward-looking pipeline of new-to-bank corporate clients, with weekly forecasting and clear revenue assurance

Hands-On Operations
- Provide leadership and coaching across:

- Develop and execute a targeted marketing and networking strategy
- Strengthen relationships across key professional networks and intermediaries

- Act as a visible ambassador for Metro Bank, embodying our values and delivering sector or regional thought leadership

Risk & Compliance
- Own and continuously improve credit quality and operational risk standards, including Financial Crime, KYC, Fraud, and Cyber, while ensuring an exceptional client experience

What You Will Need
Leadership & Team Experience
- Proven leadership in managing and developing high-performing teams in corporate banking or sector-specific roles
Business Development & Origination
- Strong track record in client acquisition and opportunity conversion
- Established, credible professional network with demonstrable access to corporate clients and intermediaries
Credit & Risk Expertise
- Advanced credit risk, debt structuring, and transaction management expertise
- Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks and operational risk in corporate banking
Strategic & Analytical Skills
- Strategic thinking to analyse markets, identify opportunities, and differentiate our proposition
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and present clearly at an executive or Board level

Sector & Commercial Knowledge
- Broad understanding of corporate/commercial banking products, services, and models
- Experience leading people/change in complex, regulated environments
- Preference for industrials or related sector expertise, deducable skill-building potential for others
