Location: Poole/Hybrid – 4 days on-site, 1 day remote

The Role

Title: Head of Lawyer Support

Reporting to: Director of Operations (Lawhive Group)

We seek a senior operational leader to:

  • Own end-to-end Lawyer Support – ensuring Woodstock becomes the easiest legal practice to work in
  • Drive modernisation of processes, systems, and culture
  • Build and empower a 30+-person support team through experienced line managers

Key Focus Areas

You’ll oversee:

  • Team Performance (30+ roles):
    • Inbound support via digital channels (Intercom)
    • Print & Post operations (mail security, precise distribution, physical workflows)
  • Talent Leadership:
    • Partner with HR to develop and hold accountable team leads and managers
    • Scale leadership capabilities to match our growth
  • Operational Standards:
    • Define structure, SLAs, capacity models, and performance metrics
    • Ensure accuracy, speed, and audit-readiness across legal workflows
  • Process Transformation:
    • Automate and digitise print/post, scanning, and document management
    • Lead AI-enabled improvements in partnership with Lawhive’s tech teams
  • Client/Consultant Support:
    • Enforce standards for file openings, consultant time efficiency, and operational reliability
    • Act as principal escalation point for complex cases
  • Cross-Function Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Lawhive’s Operations, Talent, and Product teams
    • Engage in senior strategy discussions
  • Commercial Responsibility:
    • Manage budget and headcount planning with Finance & Operations Director

Your First 12 Months: Key Milestones

By this point, you should:

  • [Team Development] Solidify clear structures and defined leadership roles with a credible talent pipeline

    • Publish a formal Operating Model (flexible SLAs, capacity planning framework)
    • Establish a real-time performance dashboard trusted by leadership
    • Achieve measureable gains in turnaround time, accuracy, and lawyer satisfaction
  • [Innovation] Introduce one fully realised change—such as upgrades to print/post automation, intake tools, or workflow integration—to reduce manual work and free up team capacity

  • [Excellence Reputation] Lawyer Support should be recognised as a well-run, high-performing function across the Lawhive Group


What You’ll Bring

Non-Negotiable Experience

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification (or recognised equivalent in service operations)

  • 5+ years of departmental leadership in a 50+ FTE support functions (Legal, financial services, or healthcare experience commercially advantageous)

  • Direct management of managers: Proven ability to develop leadership teams at scale

  • End-to-end process ownership: Spanning strategy, governance, operations, and people

  • Digital-first mentality:

    • Advanced tools in capacity planning (SLAs, KPIs, Jira, Power BI, etc.)
    • Automation & AI adoption (with trackable successes from prior transitions)
  • Hybrid physical/digital fluency: Rock-solid management of print, post, scanning, and consult-driven workflows

  • Stakeholder Agility:

    • Credible with lawyers, C-suite, clients, and medium-sized teams
    • Clear communication under pressure

Location & Working Pattern

  • Base: Poole office (UK)
  • Hybrid: 3 days onsite (required for transition periods, print/post, team alignment), 1 day remote (with approval)

  • Salary: Market competitive for £90k–£110k base, range set by scale, experience, and growth potential
