The Role
Title: Head of Lawyer Support
Reporting to: Director of Operations (Lawhive Group)
We seek a senior operational leader to:
- Own end-to-end Lawyer Support – ensuring Woodstock becomes the easiest legal practice to work in
- Drive modernisation of processes, systems, and culture
- Build and empower a 30+-person support team through experienced line managers
Key Focus Areas
You’ll oversee:
- Team Performance (30+ roles):
- Inbound support via digital channels (Intercom)
- Print & Post operations (mail security, precise distribution, physical workflows)
- Talent Leadership:
- Partner with HR to develop and hold accountable team leads and managers
- Scale leadership capabilities to match our growth
- Operational Standards:
- Define structure, SLAs, capacity models, and performance metrics
- Ensure accuracy, speed, and audit-readiness across legal workflows
- Process Transformation:
- Automate and digitise print/post, scanning, and document management
- Lead AI-enabled improvements in partnership with Lawhive’s tech teams
- Client/Consultant Support:
- Enforce standards for file openings, consultant time efficiency, and operational reliability
- Act as principal escalation point for complex cases
- Cross-Function Collaboration:
- Work closely with Lawhive’s Operations, Talent, and Product teams
- Engage in senior strategy discussions
- Commercial Responsibility:
- Manage budget and headcount planning with Finance & Operations Director

What You’ll Bring
Non-Negotiable Experience
-
Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification (or recognised equivalent in service operations)

5+ years of departmental leadership in a 50+ FTE support functions (Legal, financial services, or healthcare experience commercially advantageous)

Direct management of managers: Proven ability to develop leadership teams at scale

End-to-end process ownership: Spanning strategy, governance, operations, and people

Digital-first mentality:
- Advanced tools in capacity planning (SLAs, KPIs, Jira, Power BI, etc.)
- Automation & AI adoption (with trackable successes from prior transitions)

Hybrid physical/digital fluency: Rock-solid management of print, post, scanning, and consult-driven workflows

Stakeholder Agility:
- Credible with lawyers, C-suite, clients, and medium-sized teams
- Clear communication under pressure

- Base: Poole office (UK)
- Hybrid: 3 days onsite (required for transition periods, print/post, team alignment), 1 day remote (with approval)

- Salary: Market competitive for £90k–£110k base, range set by scale, experience, and growth potential
