SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced leader to manage our commercial legal team in EMEA. This is a critical leadership role for a talented, creative, hard working commercial attorney with significant managerial experience. You will lead a high-functioning team while fostering a collaborative working environment that minimizes hierarchy. This role is for you if you are a seasoned leader in the Legal field who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses the skills required to partner with executive sales leadership and support the commercial legal needs of the EMEA region.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead and manage the EMEA commercial legal team, fostering the professional development of each member of the team while ensuring high-quality legal support for the EMEA region.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex legal issues and complex contract negotiations, providing definitive guidance to the EMEA legal commercial team and business stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with executive staff and revenue leadership, serving as a strategic legal business partner to ensure alignment between legal risk and business objectives.
  • Initiate and manage strategic legal projects, including the development of scalable processes and regional templates to accelerate contract velocity.
  • Ensure ongoing contracting processes that comply with company policies and risk tolerance.
  • Negotiate complex strategic commercial deals with customers, serving as a trusted advisor to the business by proactively identifying legal risks and formulating innovative solutions to mitigate them.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Significant experience in a legal leadership or management role within a high-growth software/technology company in the EMEA region.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in the UK or at least one country in Europe with a demonstrated record of success as a commercial attorney.
  • 10+ years of in-house legal experience, with a proven track record of managing a team handling complex commercial transactions at scale.
  • Exceptional commercial legal capabilities and expertise in data privacy, AI, cybersecurity, SaaS contracting and EU regulations (e.g. GDPR, DORA, NIS2, EU Data Act, EU AI Act).
  • Strong “business-friendly” style that comes with an understanding that the legal team’s primary purpose is to support the growth and success of the business
  • Ability and willingness to structure, draft and negotiate a broad range of contracts, including SaaS/software contracts, professional services agreements, partner agreements, etc,
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills both written and verbal. Proficiency in other languages spoken in Europe is a plus.
  • Experience in working with Salesforce, Google workspace and contract lifecycle management systems.
