Freedom Finance Europe Ltd is a regulated European online broker headquartered in Cyprus, providing access to US, European and Asian capital markets and a broad range of investment services and financial products. We operate in a fast-moving, highly regulated environment where product speed, client trust, marketing accuracy, regulatory discipline, and legal architecture must work together. We are now strengthening our Legal Unit and looking for a senior legal leader to head one of its key expert departments.
About The Role
The Head of Brokerage, Product & Commercial Legal Department will lead legal support for brokerage, product launches, client-facing documentation, marketing materials, client complaints, GDPR/data, sanctions-related scenarios, MiFID-related matters, disclosures, prospectus-related work, and repeatable legal standards for the business.
This role is for a senior in-house lawyer who can combine:
- Financial services expertise

- Ability to build legal systems, rather than only solve individual tasks
Responsibilities

Work closely with the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to lead legal support for the company’s:
- Brokerage
- Product
- Commercial
- Client-facing
- Marketing activities

Own the department’s:
- Portfolio and priorities
- Workload allocation
- Quality control
- Escalation discipline
- Legal standards
-
Act as the main escalation point for complex, high-risk, time-sensitive, or strategically important matters within the department’s perimeter.

Provide senior legal assessments for:
- New products
- Client journeys
- Sales channels
- Distribution models
- Marketing campaigns
- Client communications
- Commercial initiatives

Translate key regulations into practical business requirements:
- MiFID II/MiFIR
- CySEC requirements
- Applicable EU financial services rules
- GDPR, sanctions, DORA

Lead or supervise drafting, review, and negotiation of:
- Brokerage agreements
- Product agreements
- Commercial agreements with clients, partners, counterparties, providers, data providers, banks, payment institutions, introducing brokers, sales channels, vendors, and third parties.

Set the legal review framework for:

Lead legal strategy for:
- Complex client complaints

- Reputationally sensitive cases

- Asset-unblocking matters

Build and maintain scalable legal tools:
- Templates

Collaborate with multiple departments, including:
- Product
- Marketing

Manage, mentor, and develop senior and mid-level Legal Counsels within the department.

Coordinate with external legal advisors, ensuring their advice is translated into practical internal standards and actions.
Requirements
-
10-12+ years of relevant legal experience in one of the following areas:
- Cyprus or European Investment Firm
- Regulated broker
- Fintech company
- Payment institution
- Financial services group
- Law firm advising financial services clients

Law degree, with preference for:
- Common-law qualification/JD with strong exposure to common-law drafting, international transactions, and EU financial services regulation, or
- Civil-law equivalent with comparable expertise

Proven experience in:
- Leading legal teams
- Managing complex legal portfolios in a regulated financial services environment
- Roles involving brokerage, investment services, capital markets, and product distribution

Strong expertise in:
- Brokerage, product and commercial agreements
- Client-facing documentation
- Regulated communications
