The Head of Local Language Scripted will work closely with experts in market and the Creative Director of International TV to set strategy and commission content to surprise and delight global audiences and expand Apple TV’s worldwide reputation for high quality programming.

Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small creative team at a senior level and to who work on premium content with global appeal and reach. You’ll be working with A list talent on screen and off, growing a slate of exciting new drama. You will be part of the powerhouse of our development effort across the globe. You’ll be responsible for working with writers to get scripts to green light stage. You’ll also provide creative guidance to producers and talent in the development of these shows, and be able to oversee these projects through production and post production. You will have an existing network of contacts in TV and film both internationally as well as the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Source and assess scripts, pitches and other underlying intellectual property for Apple series potential.
  • Guide producers and writers in the development of story and scripts.
  • Meetings with agents and key talent to identify potential projects.
  • Run all creative aspects of development, casting, production and post-production.
  • Close working relationship editorially with Creative Director, International video.
  • Help set market by market strategy working with data analysts and creatives.
  • Developing a compelling slate of shows that resonate in multiple markets and travel globally communication between local offices and global headquarters.
  • Define and execute a comprehensive content strategy for local language scripted series across key international markets.
  • Align regional output with Apple TV+'s global subscriber growth and retention targets.
  • Ensure the local language slate strategically complements the broader Apple Services ecosystem.
  • Navigating Regional Nuances: Leverage a deep understanding of international market dynamics, including regional content quotas and local compliance, to identify whitespace opportunities in highly competitive territories.
  • People Development/Leadership:
    • Directly manage, mentor, and scale a diverse team of creative executives across multiple international hubs. Proven track record of evaluating performance, guiding career development, and retaining top talent.
    • Cross-Border Management: Navigate the complexities of managing distributed teams across different time zones and employment cultures, ensuring unified goals and seamless collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • You will have extensive experience in scripted series development.
  • You’ll have proven pedigree in developing and commissioning successful drama series’ for mainstream broadcasters and/or streamers.
  • You will have a proven track record of championing multiple projects from script to production.
  • Extensive work experience in script editing, development is a must as well as ideally some exec producing experience.
  • You will need to be credible and capable of offering creative input through production and in edit.
  • A strong and relevant network with premium talent (producers, writers and directors) internationally as well as the UK.
  • Extensive people leadership experience to an executive level.

  • Experience managing International creative teams.
  • A deep understanding of the global content landscape, particularly the SVODs and strong networks in that space.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of how to collaborate closely with high end talent.
  • We need a team-player, able to handle a myriad of responsibilities across a diverse slate of projects.
  • This is a demanding, dynamic and high-volume position that requires a can-do thinker who is able to prioritize, pivot when necessary, and exercise initiative and good judgement.
  • Fluency in English essential, preference for at least 1 further globally spoken language to business proficiency.
  • Track record of successfully championing new voices, uncovering surprising talent or identifying unexpected IP.
  • An accomplished manager with credits that demonstrate an ability to deliver on time and on budget programming consistently.
