Head of Logistics | Permanent | Competitive Salary
Location: Elton, Cheshire
We're looking for an exceptional Head of Logistics to lead our Elton logistics operation. This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll oversee transport, fleet, inbound materials and outbound distribution, ensuring our manufacturing operation is supported seamlessly while delivering world-class service to our customers.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll take ownership of all logistics operations at our Elton site, leading a large operational team and ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective movement of materials and finished goods.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading all transport, despatch and distribution activities across the Elton site.
- Ensuring the timely receipt of raw materials and packaging to support uninterrupted manufacturing.
- Delivering safe, accurate and on-time despatch of finished goods, consistently achieving OTIF targets.
- Managing the Encirc-owned fleet, ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence requirements and all transport legislation.
- Driving operational excellence through KPI management, performance analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Developing high-performing teams that embrace accountability, collaboration and Encirc's six core values.
- Managing logistics budgets and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency while controlling costs.
- Working closely with third-party logistics partners to ensure outstanding service delivery against agreed SLAs and KPIs.
- Supporting strategic site projects, providing operational expertise to enable future growth and capability improvements.
- Championing Health & Safety, sustainability and operational best practice across every aspect of the logistics function.
About You
You're an experienced logistics leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You combine strategic thinking with operational excellence and know how to inspire teams to deliver exceptional results.
You'll ideally bring:
- Degree or Master's qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business or a related discipline.
- Significant leadership experience within manufacturing, logistics or supply chain operations.
- Proven success leading transport, warehousing and distribution in a complex 24/7 operation.
- Strong understanding of inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse operations and customer service.
- Experience managing own-fleet operations, including Operator Licence compliance.
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transport Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems and SAP.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer service, operational performance and cost.
- A track record of leading change, delivering continuous improvement and driving operational excellence.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience influencing across all levels of an organisation.
- Passion for developing people, building high-performing teams and creating robust succession plans.
