As part of the wider PDT leadership team, you’ll influence roadmap decisions, shape investment priorities, and act as the senior voice for ML and AI across the Cards business.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the vision and direction for machine learning and AI across the Cards business, identifying opportunities to improve customer experience and commercial performance
- Lead the performance and evolution of core ML systems including recommendations, ranking, search and personalisation
- Own model quality and lifecycle management, including evaluation, monitoring, retraining and long-term maintainability
- Drive the development of AI-powered product features, including LLM-based and generative AI experiences
- Partner with Product Management to shape the ML roadmap and prioritise high-impact initiatives
- Set technical direction across modelling approaches, feature design and evaluation frameworks
- Work closely with Engineering and MLOps teams to ensure ML systems are production-ready, scalable and well-supported
- Act as the central ML authority within PDT, aligning teams around best practices and shared approaches
- Lead, coach and grow a team of machine learning specialists, including managers and senior individual contributors
- Influence senior stakeholders, guiding decisions and representing ML and AI in leadership forums

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
