Head of Market Data | Technical Leadership | Digital Assets & Multi-Asset Trading
A leading global digital assets and financial technology firm is seeking a highly technical Head of Market Data to lead the architecture, engineering partnership, governance, and optimisation of market data platforms across both crypto and traditional asset classes.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines deep market data expertise with strong technical capability, ideally gained within electronic trading, hedge funds, digital assets, or low-latency trading environments.
You will work at the intersection of trading, engineering, infrastructure, and vendor management, driving the delivery of scalable, resilient, and high-performance data solutions that power trading, research, and risk systems globally.
The Opportunity This role requires a hands-on technical leader capable of owning market data strategy while partnering closely with engineering teams on the design and implementation of low-latency data infrastructure.
You will play a key role in: Building scalable real-time market data platforms Managing complex exchange connectivity Designing resilient data pipelines and feed handlers Normalising and distributing high-volume trading data Supporting quantitative research and production trading systems Driving automation and AI-enabled operational improvements
Key Responsibilities
Market Data Architecture & Engineering Define and execute the firm’s global market data strategy across crypto and traditional markets Design scalable, low-latency market data architecture supporting tick-level, order book, reference, and on-chain data Partner closely with engineering teams to build and maintain feed handlers, ingestion pipelines, and distribution systems Evaluate build vs buy solutions across internal platforms and third-party vendors Support hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure environments with a focus on resilience and scalability

Data Quality & Platform Management Oversee real-time ingestion and normalisation of market data across fragmented venues Implement monitoring, alerting, and data integrity frameworks Ensure high-quality datasets for trading, quant research, risk, and backtesting functions Drive performance optimisation and latency benchmarking across systems
Vendor & Exchange Management Manage relationships with crypto exchanges, traditional vendors, and data providers Lead technical and commercial evaluations of new vendors and connectivity solutions Support licensing, governance, and entitlement controls across market data usage
Leadership Build and lead a high-performing technical market data function Establish best practices across onboarding, validation, automation, and lifecycle management Champion innovation, automation, and AI adoption across the team
What We’re Looking For 10+ years’ experience within market data management, electronic trading, or trading technology environments Strong technical understanding of low-latency market data systems and real-time data infrastructure Experience working with APIs, streaming technologies, feed handlers, and distributed data systems Deep understanding of exchange connectivity, market structure, and market data workflows Strong knowledge of asset classes including equities, futures, FX, options, fixed income, and digital assets Proven experience working closely with engineering and infrastructure teams in highly technical environments Ability to engage confidently with both technical and business stakeholders Experience managing complex vendor ecosystems and large market data budgets
