Role Description
The Head of Marketing is a full-time, hybrid role based in Canterbury, with flexibility for some work from home. The role involves leading the development and delivery of the University’s marketing strategy to strengthen brand awareness, support student recruitment, and promote academic and professional programs.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Planning and managing integrated marketing campaigns
- Overseeing market research and analysis
- Ensuring consistent messaging across digital and traditional channels
The Head of Marketing will collaborate with senior leaders, faculties, and professional services to align marketing activities with institutional priorities, while managing budgets, supervising a marketing team, and monitoring performance against key targets. The role also requires close coordination with admissions, communications, and external partners to enhance stakeholder engagement and the University’s reputation regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Marketing Management and Market Planning, with a track record of leading strategic, multi-channel marketing initiatives.
- Strong experience in Market Research, including audience insight generation, campaign evaluation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Background in Sales or student recruitment-focused marketing, with the ability to design and support activities that drive applications and enrolments.
- Proficiency in Public Relations, reputation management, and stakeholder communication across media, digital, and community channels.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven leadership and people management skills, including team development, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences and platforms.
- Experience within higher education or a complex public sector or service environment is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, budgeting, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver to deadlines.
