Head of Marketing Expansion
We power people’s progress.
At Preply, we’re all about creating life-changing learning experiences. We help people discover the magic of the perfect tutor, craft a personalised learning journey, and stay motivated to keep growing. Our approach is human-led, tech-enabled - and it’s creating real impact.
We’ve just reached unicorn status with a $150M Series D, accelerating our vision to transform education through human-led, AI-enhanced learning. Today, 100,000+ tutors teach 90+ languages to learners in 180 countries - and we’re only getting started. As a category-defining company, we’re shaping what the future of learning looks like at global scale.
Every Preply lesson sparks change, fuels ambition, and drives progress that matters. Joining Preply means helping define the future of education at global scale, and building something that truly matters for millions of people, every day.
Expansion at Preply is focused on identifying and unlocking the next frontiers of growth through launching new subjects, scaling new markets, and reaching new learner segments. This includes expanding beyond growth metrics focused on first subscription, towards maximising value across the full customer lifetime. These new growth areas represent a significantly larger TAM opportunity versus our core language business, with strong demand growth and superior unit economics.
As Head of Marketing Expansion, you will own the end-to-end marketing strategy for this mission. You will operate as a senior leader and thought partner to the VP of Performance Marketing and Growth and the core Expansion team, setting the strategic direction for how we position, launch, and scale Preply across new categories, audiences, and markets. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role with significant scope to shape Preply's next chapter of growth.
What you'll be doing:
Define and own the marketing vision for Preply's Expansion mission: Set the strategic direction for how we market new verticals and new audience segments at scale, ensuring marketing is a key driver of mission success from day one. Shape go-to-market strategy for new categories and audiences: Lead the development of positioning, messaging, and channel strategies for Non-Language Subjects and emerging learner personas, translating business ambition into executable marketing plans. Drive brand positioning as a strategic enabler: Partner closely with Brand and Product Marketing to evolve how Preply is perceived beyond language learning, ensuring positioning decisions are grounded in customer insight and validated before full-scale deployment. Set the performance framework for Expansion marketing: Define KPIs across the funnel (awareness, acquisition, activation, retention) for new segments and categories; own the reporting cadence and hold the team accountable to results. Lead cross-functional alignment at a senior level: Act as the primary marketing voice in cross-functional forums, ensuring expansion marketing is integrated into broader business planning from validation through launch. Own the playbook for scalable expansion: Develop repeatable go-to-market frameworks that can be adapted across subjects, geographies, and personas, balancing speed of experimentation with the rigor needed to scale confidently.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
