We're partnering with a leading financial services business to appoint a Head of Marketing to lead its marketing legal function, with prior experience in retail banking.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for leading a specialist legal team, advising on the marketing of retail banking and investment products, and partnering with senior stakeholders across marketing, product, compliance, risk, and legal. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling commercially effective marketing strategies while ensuring compliance with the evolving UK regulatory landscape.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a high-performing marketing legal team, providing strategic legal advice across a broad range of marketing and advertising initiatives.
  • Advising on financial promotions and the regulatory framework governing the marketing of retail banking and consumer financial products.
  • Acting as the senior legal adviser on complex marketing and regulatory matters, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
  • Supporting digital marketing initiatives across multiple channels, including social media, online customer journeys, influencer marketing, and traditional advertising.
  • Advising on marketing-related commercial agreements, including agency, media, sponsorship, and technology contracts.
  • Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and driving scalable legal processes to support continued business growth.

We're interested in speaking with qualified lawyers with a minimum of 7 PQE who have significant experience advising on the marketing of retail banking or other regulated consumer financial products. Candidates should have experience supporting digital marketing activities and negotiating commercial marketing agreements. Previous team leadership experience is a nice-to-have, as well as the ability to influence senior stakeholders within a complex organisation are essential.
