Head of Member Services
Professional Membership Organisation
Central London (Hybrid – 2 days office, 3 days home)
£60,000 – £70,000 + excellent benefits including generous pension, private healthcare, wellbeing support, flexible and hybrid working, season ticket loan and generous annual leave

Our client, a highly respected professional membership organisation, is seeking an experienced Head of Member Services to lead its membership function and play a key role in shaping the future growth and success of the organisation.
Representing a specialist profession that plays an important role in supporting businesses and the wider UK economy, the organisation is entering an exciting phase of development. This newly available opportunity will suit a commercially minded membership leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional member value, driving growth, leading high-performing teams and developing innovative member services.
If you have a proven track record of leading membership strategy within a professional body, trade association, institute or similar membership organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role of Head of Member Services
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and delivering the organisation's membership strategy while ensuring members remain at the heart of everything the organisation does.

Leading a multidisciplinary team across membership, marketing and communications, you will drive membership growth, retention and engagement whilst overseeing commercial income streams, sponsorship activity and member communications.
Working closely with senior leadership, volunteers, committees and key stakeholders, you will ensure the organisation continues to evolve its membership proposition, strengthen relationships with members and deliver outstanding value.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Developing and delivering the organisation's membership growth, engagement and retention strategy.
- Leading and developing the membership, marketing and communications teams.
- Driving commercial performance through membership income, sponsorship and strategic partnerships.
- Developing innovative membership products, services and member benefits.
- Building strong relationships with key members, corporate partners, volunteers and committees.
- Leading member insight, research and market analysis to shape future strategy.
- Working collaboratively across the organisation to enhance the overall member experience.
- Managing departmental budgets, business plans and performance against agreed objectives.
- Representing the organisation at key meetings, conferences and industry events.

Person Specification
- Proven experience in a senior membership leadership role within a membership organisation, professional body, trade association, institute, charity or similar environment.
- Demonstrable success in developing and delivering membership growth, retention and engagement strategies.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing high-performing staff.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, income generation and sponsorship.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working alongside Boards, Committees and senior volunteers.
- Experience developing marketing, communications and member engagement initiatives.
- A strategic thinker with strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional member experiences and continuous improvement.
- Experience within a professional membership organisation or regulated sector would be highly advantageous.
