Head of Mobile Engineering £140,000 | Hybrid – 2 days/week Central London

I am exclusively supporting a high-growth mobile technology business whose products sit on tens of millions of phones globally. Their Mobile platform powers a revenue engine trusted by some of the world's biggest carriers and they're scaling fast!

We are recruiting for a Head of Mobile Engineering to own the entire mobile function: Android, iOS, the teams, the architecture, and the roadmap.

This role is ANDROID LEANING meaning you will need to have come from a solid Android background and managed/ scaled mobile teams (primarily Android/ Kotlin). You will also be scaling/ growing the iOS side of the business but Android exp with managerial exp is highly preferred.

They are looking for a genuine department-level leader + someone who will shape how they build, who they hire, and where the technology goes next.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

It is also important that you have managed multiple squads (2 is fine) and have the proven track record of delivering strategy and working with C-Suite stakeholders.

They are also open to Engineering Managers or Leaders who have worked for larger organisations and looking for a step up into a bigger role.

What the role involves

  • Leading multi-squad mobile engineering teams across Android and iOS
  • Owning the technical architecture at global scale (10M+ MAU, enterprise-grade compliance, tier-1 partner integrations)
  • Sitting at the table with C-suite and commercial partners - translating engineering strategy into business outcomes
  • Driving the shift to modern declarative UI and evaluating next-gen tooling including Kotlin Multiplatform
  • Maintaining real technical credibility - code reviews, architecture decisions, hands-on problem solving alongside your teams

  • A proven track record of structuring and scaling mobile engineering teams/departments
  • At least 2+ years of leading multiple squads
  • Comfort operating at exec level (you can hold a commercial conversation as confidently as a technical one) + solid stakeholder management experience
  • Scale-up or growth-stage company experience
  • iOS oversight capability alongside your Android depth
  • Kotlin Multiplatform experience is a real differentiator
  • The drive to want to join a fast paced/ scaling company where you can take full ownership
