Job Description: Head of New Business Reporting – Qualified Actuary
Location: Hybrid Contract: Permanent
We are seeking a Qualified Actuary to lead our Institutional Retirement business as the Head of New Business Reporting. This role offers:
- Strong leadership exposure across the Institution Business and wider L&G Group
- End-to-end ownership of new business reporting processes
- Robust oversight of new business and broader reporting outputs under IFRS and Solvency UK/Solvency II
- Collaboration with Planning & Analysis, Finance Central Services, and PRT (Pension Risk Transfer) teams to enhance reporting outputs
This hybrid role provides flexibility to split your workweek between home and office to achieve a sustainable work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Manage and develop a team of four talented actuarial analysts
- New Business Reporting:
- Deliver IFRS and Solvency II/UK metrics for new business
- Ensure rigorous oversight and governance of all outputs, data, assumptions, and methodologies
- Provide a challenging review layer for reporting outputs from Finance Central Services
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with PRT Pricing, Client Services, Planning & Analysis, Technical Accounting, Auditors, and broader Finance teams
- Clearly articulate reporting results, movements, and key messages to senior stakeholders
- Process Improvement & Change Leadership:
- Drive improvements in systems, controls, documentation, and reporting processes
- Actively support changes to technical reporting methodologies, processes, and systems

Requirements
- Qualification: Qualified Life Actuary (e.g., FIA/FFA or equivalent)
- Experience:
- Strong life insurance reporting background, including IFRS/IFRS 17 and Solvency II reporting.
- Deep knowledge of bulk annuities, individual annuities, or similar retirement products
- Proven track record in reviewing actuarial/financial reporting outputs and assessing reasonableness
- Experience leading teams (actuarial, financial, or reporting-focused)
- Skilled in risk, governance, and compliance in a UK financial services environment
- Soft Skills:
- Confident and impactful stakeholder communication, especially with technical senior management
- Proactive mindset for continuous improvement in reporting processes and controls
