Head of Offshore – Policy Leadership Role
Scottish Renewables is seeking a Head of Offshore to lead its government policy work across offshore energy, with a primary focus on offshore wind.
Scottish Renewables is the trade body for Scotland's renewable energy industry, representing over 380 organisations across:
- Offshore and onshore wind
- Solar
- Hydroelectric
- Low-carbon heat
- Wave and tidal energy
- Hydrogen
- Supporting supply chains
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Offshore, this senior policy leadership role is responsible for:
- Collaborating with industry, government, and stakeholders to shape Scottish and UK public policy, legislation, and regulation.
- Influencing decision-making to accelerate the deployment of offshore renewables.
- Holding a strong external profile, including media engagements and public speaking across the full range of offshore-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Scotland Renewables’ offshore energy policy work, with a focus on offshore wind.
- Drive engagement with the Scottish Government on:
- Planning
- Environmental policy
- Consenting processes
- Chair or co-chair industry groups addressing barriers to offshore deployment.
- Monitor policy and legislative developments, shaping strategic industry responses.
- Contribute to offshore skills, supply chain, and market analysis, working with internal teams.
- Represent Scottish Renewables publicly, including media interviews and event attendance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with members and external stakeholders.
- Provide line management for an Offshore Policy Officer, with potential for future team growth.

About You
We’re looking for a confident, politically savvy policy professional with a deep understanding of offshore wind and the broader offshore energy sector.
Candidates should ideally bring:
- Experience influencing public policy in energy or a related sector.
- Credibility in engaging senior stakeholders and chairing forums.
- Ability to speak authoritatively across a broad offshore agenda, drawing on specialised expertise when needed.
- Strong communication skills and comfort with external representation.
- Interest in people leadership, with line management experience preferred but not essential.

- Location: Glasgow office (hybrid working, max 2 days/week from home)
- Travel: Occasional overnight stays and weekend event attendance
