Head of Operations

Permanent, Full-time

Location: South Essex Role: Hybrid Working (2 days per week from office)

Salary: £50,000–£55,000 + Benefits


Our client is a respected UK professional membership body and learned society at an exciting point in its evolution. They are now seeking a collaborative and forward-thinking Head of Operations to join the Senior Management Team and help shape the next chapter of the organisation.


Your role will involve providing operational leadership across:

  • Membership services
  • Governance
  • Conferences and events
  • Publications
  • Business operations

You will ensure teams have:

  • The right structure
  • Necessary support
  • Effective systems to thrive

This is a broad leadership role. Success will depend on your ability to:

Key Priorities:

  • Deliver a major CRM implementation
  • Support governance modernisation
  • Drive continuous improvement
  • Identify new opportunities to enhance member value and develop sustainable income streams
  • Oversee operational compliance, including data protection
  • Work closely with outsourced service providers

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of the professional membership, learned society, charity, or not-for-profit sector
  • Experience leading operational teams
  • Background in managing organisational change
  • Ability to support colleagues through transformation with a positive, pragmatic, and collaborative approach

Role Details:
