Head of Operations | Energy Trading | Up to £85,000 + Bonus + Benefits | Hybrid

Operating at the intersection of fintech, energy and commodity trading, this organisation has built a technology-led platform that enables participants in global markets to manage complex financial and physical transactions more efficiently. The products focus on digitising traditionally manual and fragmented processes, helping trading businesses improve transparency, operational efficiency and connectivity across the transaction lifecycle. The business sits within a niche area of the market where financial technology is increasingly being used to modernise how commodities are bought, sold and settled.

With continued investment across digital infrastructure and market connectivity, across fintech and trading to deliver products in fast-moving and highly regulated markets. As the Head of Operations will play a pivotal role in supporting that growth. The Head of Operations will be responsible for ensuring the organisation can scale effectively across its people, processes and operations. Working closely with leadership, they will help align teams, drive process improvements and oversee the successful delivery of key initiatives, enabling the business to continue expanding its technology offering and strengthen its position across the energy and trading markets.

This is a hands-on leadership role in operations where you will be turning business strategy into operational delivery. As the company continues to scale, working closely with the leadership team, you will have significant influence over how the business operates, helping to establish best practices, improve ways of working and drive key business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities for the Head of Operations:

  • Own and drive business operations by translating company strategy into clear operating plans, setting measurable objectives and implementing the processes and reporting frameworks needed to support growth across the organisation.
  • Lead people and hiring initiatives, partnering with leadership on workforce planning, building scalable recruitment and onboarding processes, and helping to foster a high-performing and transparent company culture.
  • Oversee financial and resource planning, including budgeting, forecasting and vendor management, ensuring the business is making informed decisions around investment, headcount and operational spend.
  • Build and improve scalable processes and systems by identifying operational bottlenecks, streamlining cross-functional workflows and implementing solutions that enable teams to work more effectively as the company grows.
  • Deliver strategic projects across the business, taking ownership of high-impact initiatives and working closely with stakeholders to ensure successful execution across operational, commercial and business-critical priorities.
