About the Role

Have you successfully led large-scale warehouse or logistics operations, delivering exceptional service while controlling costs? Can you inspire, develop and challenge senior operational leaders to achieve outstanding results? Do you have the commercial acumen, strategic mindset and customer focus to drive performance in a high-profile retail supply chain environment?

We are looking for a Head of Operations to join our M&S site in Stoke. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll take overall responsibility for operational performance across the site. Working closely with senior leaders across Operations, Finance, HR, QHSE, Inventory and Customer teams, you'll develop and execute strategic plans that deliver exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, financial performance and colleague engagement. You'll be a visible leader who creates a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance while ensuring the site remains safe, compliant and customer-focused.

This is a full-time, permanent role, working predominately Monday to Friday, but flexibility is required.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £65,000.00 per annum and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What You’ll Do on a Typical Day

  • Lead and develop a team of Operational Managers, ensuring the warehouse operation consistently delivers against customer expectations, KPIs and service level agreements
  • Drive operational efficiency, productivity and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve cost, revenue and performance targets
  • Partner with the General Manager and wider leadership team to develop and implement site strategy, business plans and long-term operational objectives
  • Oversee financial performance, budget management and cost optimisation activities, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational effectiveness
  • Champion a positive, safe and inclusive culture, ensuring compliance with all health & safety, legal and statutory requirements while developing future talent across the site

What You Need to Succeed at GXO

  • Significant senior-level logistics or supply chain leadership experience within a large-scale warehouse or distribution environment
  • Proven track record of leading large operational teams to deliver outstanding customer service, operational performance and cost control
  • Strong commercial and financial management skills, including budget ownership, KPI management and performance reporting
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence customers and senior leaders alike
  • Demonstrable experience of driving continuous improvement, change management and operational transformation programmes
