Permanent Head of Operations Required!
At St Michael le Belfrey in York, known as The Belfrey, we're preparing for a once-in-a-generation moment. In 2027 we will return to our transformed medieval church building following the completion of Impact - our multi-million-pound restoration and redevelopment project that will create new opportunities for worship, mission, discipleship and serving the city of York and beyond.
We're looking for an exceptional Head of Operations to help lead us through this exciting and demanding season of change and beyond. Working alongside the Priest in Charge, senior leadership team and as a member of the Impact Project Team, you'll play a pivotal role in preparing for our return, embedding new ways of working, and ensuring the operational excellence needed to support a thriving, growing church.
This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic leadership, organisational expertise and a passion for mission as we seek to bring God's transformation to the North and position The Belfrey for its next season of impact.
Situated right next door to York Minster, we are a large, vibrant, evangelical Anglican church with a growing congregation. We serve all ages and as a City Centre Church and have particularly strong ministries in Children and Families, Youth and students.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
