The Role

The Head of Operations will lead one of our largest and most complex UK manufacturing sites, producing a wide range of high-risk cooked and chilled products, including sliced meats, for key retail customers.

This is a pivotal leadership role where you’ll be responsible for shaping the site’s operational strategy, embedding best practice, and building the culture, structure, and capability needed to deliver against ambitious performance, safety, and quality standards.

As a key member of the site leadership team, you’ll play a critical role in stabilising and optimising day-to-day performance while leading the next phase of transformation, turning the site into Sofina’s flagship operation for excellence.

As expected with a hands-on operational role, this position will require 5 days a week onsite, with regular travel to Malton for SLT meetings.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all site operations, ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality production of chilled and cooked (RTE) food products.
  • Deliver key KPIs across yield, labour efficiency, waste reduction, and service performance.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability and empowerment.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, health & safety, legal, and retailer standards.
  • Drive operational improvement through systems, process optimisation, and people engagement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Technical, HR, Commercial, and Supply Chain to deliver business goals and customer satisfaction.
  • Represent the site with customers and internal stakeholders, demonstrating confidence, credibility, and operational excellence.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
