Senior Role: Head of Organisational Change & Culture

Location: London Head Office – Hybrid Working (1-2 days per week in office)


About the Team

Our People Division is pivotal in shaping colleague experience across Sainsbury’s, ensuring our culture, leadership, and ways of working align with our business strategy. The Organisational Change & Culture team serves as the hub for transformation, collaborating with the business to develop enterprise-wide change capabilities and foster a culture that enhances colleague engagement and performance. We work closely with senior leaders, including Operating Board stakeholders, to drive meaningful behavioural change and embed a human-centred approach to transformation.


Role Overview: Head of Organisational Change & Culture

You will lead the Change Management and Culture Centres of Expertise, defining how change is delivered across Sainsbury’s. Responsibilities include:

  • Shaping and increasing Sainsbury’s change maturity while supporting the business Strategy and Transformation portfolio.
  • Guiding a team of six Organisational Change & Culture Managers across Sainsbury’s Group.

Your primary focus will be to:

  • Own and enhance Sainsbury’s approach to Change Management, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Build internal capacity among leaders and colleagues across all functions.
  • Collaborate with Business Strategy, Planning, and Transformation teams to anticipate and address change impacts.
  • Coach, influence, and align Transformation teams and senior leaders to embed change successfully.
  • Develop and deliver the company’s culture strategy and culture roadmap.
  • Drive desired cultural shifts using impactful interventions.

Who You Are

You possess:

  • Demonstrable experience in leading organisation-wide change in complex environments.
  • The ability to translate strategy into practical, high-impact interventions.
  • Comfort in engaging with senior stakeholders, exercising influence while fostering alignment across diverse teams.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven senior experience in Change Management, with a track record of driving behavioural, leadership, and culture change across complex, cross-functional transformations.
  • Experience in leading organisation-wide culture change within large, complex organisations, spanning multiple business units.
  • A record of coaching senior stakeholders, including at executive levels, to build Change Management and Culture capabilities.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing change frameworks, methodologies, and interventions.
  • Proven leadership of a high-performing team, demonstrating strong judgment, decision-making, and development skills to guide team direction and engagement in dynamic environments.
