Description
Sancta Maria Hospital Swansea is offering an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and visionary individual to lead our Outpatient Department (OPD) as the new Head of OPD. This role is ideal for an experienced clinical leader who is passionate about driving innovation, operational excellence, and top-tier patient care within a dynamic healthcare environment.
As Head of OPD, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of outpatient services. You will set and uphold clinical standards, ensure robust pre-assessment processes, and deliver safe, effective care to our patients. Your leadership will underpin smooth departmental operations, integrated care pathways, and continual service development, keeping the department at the forefront of clinical innovation.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence hospital performance, drive service improvements, and ensure the highest standards of patient safety, experience, and clinical governance. You will thrive in an environment requiring you to effectively manage multiple priorities, allocate resources, and integrate services ranging from minor operations to specialised cardiac care.
Main duties of the job
- Inspire and mentor a diverse OPD team, fostering a positive, collaborative culture and professional development.
- Champion best practice clinical standards and protocols, maintaining the hospitals reputation for excellence.
- Oversee the patient journey, using patient experience to drive continual improvement in patient experience.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Clinical Services and consultants to provide integrated, multidisciplinary care.
- Lead the development and introduction of innovative services that respond to evolving patient needs.
- Efficiently manage resources and deliver seamless, high-quality care across all outpatient services.
- Promote continuous staff development and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.

The Person We Seek
- Substantial experience in outpatient pre-assessment and risk management within a busy hospital setting.
- Exceptional leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, motivate, and build collaborative teams.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, with a strong patient-centred approach.
