About the Role
As Head of Peer Review Management, you will lead the strategic design, governance, and adoption of future-state peer review workflows across the Nature Portfolio. Collaborating with the Director of Editorial & Author Support, you will define cross-functional processes, systems, and governance to deliver scalable, standardised, and future-ready models for peer review.

Key Responsibilities
Decision Quality & Managing Complexity
- Specify the governance model for future peer review workflows to align with SNAPP migration.
- Lead cross-functional conflict resolution and escalation management.
- Drive decision frameworks and accountability structures for escalation routes.
Publishing Workflows & Systems
- Act as the primary NP PRM liaison for SNAPP development to ensure smooth migration.
- Oversee PRM training, onboarding, and system integration.
Project Management
- Lead communications and change management, minimising resistance and moral impact.
- Anticipate risks and implement transition strategies for affected teams.
Operational Excellence
- Redefine role structures, responsibilities, and capability models within PRM.
- Collaborate with Editorial on performance metrics and post-implementation optimisation.
- Continuously refine workflows to align with business objectives.
Action-Oriented & Result-Driven
- Prioritise workstream alignment and strategy implementation.
- Apply a data-informed approach to measure peer review success.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Foster cross-functional alignment with Editorial, Tech, Production, GPO, and Operations.
- Advise cross-functional teams on decisions reflecting shared business priorities.

Requirements
- Operational/Project Management Experience: Strong background in project leadership, workflow optimisation, and cross-team synergy.
- Editorial Expertise: Deep understanding of closed-access and open-access journal publishing workflows.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to analyse high-level issues logically and constructively.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience negotiating across functional boundaries with clarity and precision.
- Change Management: Proven track record of driving adoption of new workflows and tools.
- Leadership: Capable of directing teams with cultural diplomacy while maintaining momentum.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent leadership in publishing/workflow analysis.

US salary range: $100,000 – $120,000 (annual base). A performance-based bonus is part of remuneration.
