About Unseen
Unseen combines assessment technology, candidate engagement, psychometric design, and recruitment support solutions to help employers deliver fair, data-driven, high-impact recruitment experiences and insights. We are entering the next stage of growth, with ambitious plans to acquire and integrate multiple companies into the Group, transitioning them from standalone organisations into our centralised operating model.
First HR Hire – Chief People Officer
About the Role
As our first HR hire, you will ensure Unseen has the structures, systems, and frameworks needed to support our growing and acquisitive business. Reporting to the Group COO, you will have the support of an open and forward-thinking leadership team. This role is a hands-on standalone position, requiring full ownership of both strategic and day-to-day HR activities in a fast-moving environment.
You must be commercially driven, comfortable taking full responsibility, and capable of delivering high-impact results in both operational and strategic aspects of HR.
Part of Unseen’s global team with offices in Manchester and London, we are remote-friendly and open to remote or hybrid candidates, provided you are based in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Systems
- Develop and implement a people strategy aligned to business objectives and growth plans
- Adopt a technology-first, data-driven mindset, using AI agents to streamline processes:
- Design workflows for improved employee experience (onboarding to offboarding)
- Leverage sentiment insights and people analytics
- Organise internal knowledge years, resources, and compliance
- Own and manage HR systems, ensuring accurate employee data, documentation, and reporting integrity
- Oversee HR budgets, partner with Finance on remuneration governance, payroll, and compensation structure
- Lead major HR projects, including:
- TUPE processes
- HR systems transformations

Employee Relations
- Serve as the trusted point of contact for HR queries, dispute resolution, and employee support
- Lead on all employee relations matters and escalations, ensuring legal compliance
Company Acquisition & Integration
- Assist the COO in HR due diligence for acquisitions:
- Review contracts and policies
- Assess organisational structures, roles, and resource requirements
- Support change management during restructures and transitions
- Lead HR integration post-acquisition:
- Contract alignment
- Policy harmonisation
- Process standardisation
Talent Acquisition
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organic design
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify current and future needs
- Utilise AI agents and digital tools to:
- Assess and optimise HR and talent processes
- Reduce manual operations in recruitment and resourcing
- Implement consistent, high-quality processes across:
- Hiring
- Onboarding
- Offboarding
- Manage relationships with external recruitment platforms and hiring partners
Performance, Engagement and Development
- Own and shape compensation architecture:
- Establish pay bands and benchmarking strategies
- Develop a total rewards approach
- Design performance management frameworks, succession planning, and leadership development
- Lead on employee engagement initiatives, feedback mechanisms, and diversity & inclusion strategies
- Define and deliver strategies for high-performing, inclusive team retention and development
- Align learning & development programmes to business goals and employee growth

Requirements & Qualities
Your Profile
- CIPD qualified, ideally Level 7
- Proven experience in scaling or plethora acquisition and integration strategies
- Strong tech-native approach:
- Analytical systems thinker
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve workflows and employee experience
- Full ownership of HR operations in a standalone leadership role
- Ability to balance strategic planning with operational execution
- Experience building HR policies, frameworks, and processes in a growing organisation
- Experience working in remote/hybrid, fast-paced, or Agile environments
- Deep knowledge of employment law and employee relations best practices
- Demonstrable experience in aligning people strategy with business growth
- Highly commercially aware, proactive, and capable of driving senior stakeholder engagement
- Excellent multi-tasking, prioritisation, and rapid adjustment skills in changing environments
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Hands-on, solutions-focused, problem solver who thrives independently
