Head of People

Head of People (tombola, UK & Ireland)

About the Role

As Head of People at tombola (part of Flutter UK & Ireland), you will mobilise, deliver, and embed the UK&I People Strategy, working closely with the UK&I People team, Flutter Centres of Excellence, and the tombola Leadership Team. You’ll develop a divisionally aligned people strategy that supports local initiatives in talent identification, retention, employee engagement, and culture—while upholding the distinctive values that shape tombola’s identity.

You will report directly to the Managing Director (primary line) and to the Director of People Partnering (CCO) (dotted line), serving as a critical strategic partner as tombola evolves through its phase of operational growth and maturity. Your focus will centre around four key areas:

  • People Partnering
  • Talent Acquisition
  • Internal Communications & Engagement
  • Reward

Responsibilities

Strategic & Collaborative Leadership

  • Partner with business leaders to shape and implement people initiatives aligned with business success, ensuring broader UK&I People Strategy coherence.

  • Develop data-driven people plans that align with UK&I goals and deliver measurable business impact.

Leadership Guidance

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and Leadership Team, offering guidance on people, engagement, and performance.

  • Influence organisational design, ensuring structures support player-centric and commercial objectives.

Talent & Cultural Development

  • Support the UK&I Talent and Performance Strategy, identifying and nurturing skills critical to strategic workforce planning.

Internal Stakeholder Oversight

  • Strengthen tombola–Flutter Group relationships to enhance individual, team, and organisational performance.

Organisational Coordination

  • Collaborate with UK&I People team and Flutter Centres of Excellence to exchange best practices and deliver consistent employee experiences.

Commercial & Financial Accountability

  • Provide commercial oversight of people costs and headcount planning, owning the tombola People budget.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a growing People team, ensuring it’s business-aligned and delivers an exceptional colleague experience.

  • Own the reward process for tombola, working with the Group Reward team to ensure consistency and robustness.
  • Lead internal communications and employee engagement projects across the division.

Core Competencies

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional People teams across dispersed locations.
  • Skill to navigate matrix structures, building trust and influence across senior and junior stakeholders.

  • Expertise in reward cycles, applying reward principles throughout the employee lifecycle (hiring to attrition).
