Location: The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham Contract: Full Time – Monday to Friday Type: Permanent Salary: Competitive + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits, and excellent career development)


About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Head of Pharmacy to join our Pharmacy team at Harborne Hospital. Our pharmacy service is critical in delivering safe, effective, and high-quality medication management across the hospital. The team collaborates with clinical and operational colleagues to ensure optimal patient outcomes, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in pharmaceutical services.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a well-established team and further develop a high-performing service within one of the UK’s leading independent healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Pharmacy service, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality medication practices across the hospital
  • Oversee departmental budgets, financial performance, stock control, and revenue capture
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Manage, mentor, and develop pharmacy staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management
  • Drive clinical governance, audit, and risk management activities, including chairing relevant committees

Requirements

  • Registration as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ hospital pharmacy experience
  • Proven leadership experience, including responsibility for people, projects, and financial management
  • Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, governance, and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
