Head of Planning & Resourcing

📍 Bristol (Hybrid) • 💰 £90k – £100k + Bonus & Benefits

I’m currently partnering with a growing technology business in the pensions / financial services space, undergoing significant transformation driven by new leadership. They are now looking to hire a Head of Planning & Resourcing to take ownership of delivery planning, prioritisation, and resource allocation across the organisation.

This role will sit centrally within the delivery function, with key responsibilities including:

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve portfolio planning and demand management processes
  • Drive resource optimisation, capacity planning, and utilisation
  • Build a clear, centralised view of delivery pipelines and portfolio performance
  • Embed consistent planning frameworks, governance, and reporting standards
  • Influence stakeholders across the business to enhance prioritisation and decision-making

You’ll operate at an senior leadership level, contributing critical insights on how delivery matures as the business scales—without being directly responsible for programme delivery.


Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Strong background in PMO leadership, Portfolio Planning, or Programme Office roles
  • Hands-on experience managing large, complex delivery portfolios
  • Expertise in:
    • Portfolio planning
    • Resource management
    • Demand forecasting
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, including influencing senior leaders without direct authority
  • Background in financial services, pensions, or regulated environments (ideal but not mandatory)
  • Thrives in a growing, evolving environment
  • Highly structured and analytical approach to problem-solving
