Head of Platform Engineering - London Fintech - £150,000–£200,000 Package

A fast-growing, VC/PE-backed fintech in London is looking for a Head of Platform Engineering to take ownership of its cloud platform as the business scales into new markets internationally.

This is a genuine build-and-lead role. You'll take a platform that's already live and growing fast, and shape where it goes next: architecture, team, standards, and the roadmap for reliability and scale as the company expands into new regions over the next 12 to 24 months.

What you'll be doing

  • Owning the cloud platform end-to-end: architecture, reliability, and the roadmap for scaling it as the business grows
  • Building and leading a platform engineering function, setting technical direction and hiring as the team grows
  • Working closely with the leadership team to align infrastructure investment with business priorities
  • Championing modern engineering practices, including automation, observability, and security-by-design, across the wider engineering org
  • Acting as a senior technical voice in the business, translating platform decisions into commercial impact

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience leading or owning a cloud platform at a growing tech business, ideally within fintech or another fast-moving, high-stakes environment
  • A track record of building platform teams and practices from the ground up, not just maintaining what's already there
  • Comfortable operating strategically with leadership while staying close enough to the detail to make good technical calls
  • Someone who's genuinely energised by scaling infrastructure alongside a growing business, not just running steady-state operations
