Head of Platform Engineering

London | Hybrid (3 days per week in office) £130,000 – £160,000 + Bonus & Benefits

We are supporting a global investment bank in the appointment of a Head of Platform Engineering to lead a major technology transformation agenda. This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping the future of enterprise platform engineering, moving towards modern, automated and scalable technology platforms that improve engineering productivity, reliability and delivery speed.

The Role

You will lead the strategy and execution of a modern Platform Engineering function, driving:

  • Platform modernisation and reduction of technical debt.
  • Cloud, automation and DevOps adoption.
  • Self-service platforms and CI/CD enablement.
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Improved platform resilience, security and operational efficiency.
  • Adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-driven automation.

About You

We are looking for an established Director-level technology leader with experience transforming large-scale infrastructure or platform environments.

You will have:

  • Proven leadership experience across Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or SRE.
  • Experience building and executing platform strategies and roadmaps.
  • Strong understanding of modern cloud and engineering practices.
  • Experience leading senior technology teams in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence executives and technical teams.
