Based in Manchester, this full-time permanent role will lead the Academy's player accommodation provision, ensuring a high-quality residential environment that supports player wellbeing, recruitment, and retention. Working within a semi-residential model that includes regular evening and overnight duties, you will play a key part in creating a safe, supportive, and well-run programme for young players.
Who We Are
Manchester City is a football club rooted in East Manchester, with a story that began in 1880 and continues to grow today. Built on resilience, belief, and togetherness, success on the pitch is driven by the moments and memories shared with millions of Fans around the world. City is known for its bravery, its determination to the very end, and its strong connection to where we come from. With Mancunian roots and a global outlook, we are shaped by our Fans and driven by a long-term vision, from developing future talent to supporting the communities we call home. Together, we are creating the next chapter, the City way.
Within our Academy, the Player Welfare team plays an important role in supporting young players as they develop both on and off the pitch. We work closely with colleagues across the Academy, safeguarding, and education to provide a residential experience built around care, consistency, and high standards.
The Role
As Head of Player Accommodation, you will lead the strategic development and day-to-day delivery of the Academy's accommodation provision across the City Football Academy and external residences. You will oversee the quality, safety, and consistency of the full residential offer, making sure it supports player wellbeing, recruitment, and retention while meeting the standards expected across the Club and wider regulatory environment.
You will take ownership of the systems, policies, and day-to-day processes that keep the programme running smoothly, from staffing and cover arrangements through to compliance, welfare, health and safety, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role, so you will be visible within the residential environment, comfortable responding to issues in real time, and confident balancing operational detail with longer-term planning and service development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
