Head of PMO
Head of PMO
Location: Inchinnan, Glasgow – Hybrid (3 days/week)
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Security Note: This role requires security checks.
The Role
This is a high-impact global role focused on embedding PMO best practice across JFD’s Project Operations, driving consistent, transparent, and customer-focused delivery.
- Working cross-functionally, ensure projects are:
- Well-supported
- Governed
- Aligned to key business processes
- Act as an escalation point for project challenges
- Join at a pivotal stage of growth to strengthen:
- Delivery capability
- Stakeholder influence across regions and functions
- Meaningful, scalable improvements in global operations
Key traits sought:
- Tenacious, pragmatic, and commercially aware
- Bring credibility, calm authority, and a structured approach
- Confidence to challenge constructively within complex decision-making
- Resilient under pressure, owning delivery and embedding change to elevate project management
- Hybrid role with the following travel/engagement requirements:
- Routine Glasgow–Aberdeen, and some national/international travel to support global operations and stakeholder engagements
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the global PMO, embedding best practice in:
- Governance
- Processes
- Ways of working
- Identify and deliver high-impact improvement opportunities aligned to business objectives
- Implement clear, engaging, and effective project reporting that reflects true performance
- Champion safety and strengthen safety leadership within project management
- Build digital capability across the project management community, aligned with strategy
- Drive shift from:
- Reactive delivery → Stable, controlled, and repeatable practices
- Align with IMS and ERP transformation to ensure governance evolves alongside system upgrades
- Develop process improvement capability across operations while managing and forecasting project resources

Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in PMO best practice, ideally in manufacturing, defence, or related environments
- Proven ability to drive measurable improvements in complex, high-reliability operational settings
- Experience leading global-scale, cross-functional projects
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including:
- Influence at senior levels
- Presentation expertise to diverse/technical audiences
- High data and performance literacy:
- Ability to utilise metrics for decision-making and progress tracking
- Experience in implementing and embedding system change in high-stakes environments
- Background in defence, engineering, marine, aerospace, or other regulated/regulated environments (desirable but not prescribed)
