Head of Private Client (Solicitor / Legal Executive / Senior Paralegal)
Location: South Manchester
The Opportunity
A forward-thinking law firm in South Manchester is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Head of Private Client to establish and lead their brand-new Private Client department.
This role is ideal for experienced Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executives, or highly skilled Senior Paralegals eager to build something from the ground up.
You’ll join a leadership team with over 50 years’ combined experience, committed to delivering clear, practical, and client-focused legal advice in a straightforward manner.

The Role
As Head of Private Client, you’ll lead the creation and growth of the department, including:
- Establishing processes, systems, and workflows from the ground up
- Managing and developing a broad private client caseload
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients and referrers
- Driving departmental growth and long-term strategy
- Supporting future team expansion and recruitment
This is a hands-on leadership role with real autonomy and influence.
Typical Caseload
You’ll handle a varied and evolving workload, including:
- Drafting Wills and estate planning
- Probate and estate administration
- Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs)
- Trusts and estate structuring (depending on experience)
- Court of Protection work (desirable but not essential)
The department is flexible, allowing you to shape and grow the offering based on your background and interests.
About You
We’re looking for candidates who:

- Are a Solicitor, Legal Executive, or experienced Paralegal with strong private client experience
- Can confidently manage their own caseload and client relationships
- Have a commercial mindset and are excited by the opportunity to build a department

- Are seeking a long-term leadership opportunity
