About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Assessment and Qualification Design to join our team.

The Head of Qualifications and Assessment Design is crucial to maintaining the integrity, relevance, and excellence of our qualification and assessment portfolio, playing a pivotal role in the growth of Kaplan Assessments.

You will serve as Kaplan’s internal expert on qualification architecture, credential design, competence-based certification, and qualification approval and accreditation, you will have overall accountability for ensuring our assessments genuinely test knowledge and evidence competence. You will be responsible for qualification and assessment design and credentials in line with business strategy, systematically managing the overall qualification portfolio and credentialing frameworks to ensure they match our strategic plan and meet the needs of our current and future customers and candidates. You will develop a current, reliable, and relevant product portfolio in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Essential

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Experience of working at a management level within a regulated environment relating to qualifications and assessments
  • Experience reviewing and evaluating qualification and assessment designs to ensure alignment between learning outcomes, content and assessment.
  • Good understanding of assessment principles including validity, reliability, accessibility and fitness for purpose.
  • Experience developing or reviewing assessment strategies for vocational, professional or workforce-based qualifications.
  • Ability to evaluate whether assessment evidence is sufficient to demonstrate competence against occupational or professional standards.
  • Experience working with competency frameworks and workforce-aligned qualifications or credentials.
  • Working knowledge of Ofqual general conditions of recognition
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of professional education and vocational qualifications
  • Capacity to build a strong and productive relationship with partners and stakeholders
  • Strong communication and presentational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Advanced analysis, judgement and critical thinking
