Manager – Quality Control and Assurance

About the Role
This critical managerial role focuses on the strategic development and operational leadership of the Quality Control and Assurance Service within Health Products Services (HPS). The postholder ensures full compliance with regulatory standards, statutory obligations, and industry best practices, safeguarding the integrity and reputation of HPS’s pharmaceutical operations.
The role carries significant accountability across licensing compliance, risk management, and cross-functional support for business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory and Compliance Leadership
- Lead and develop the Quality Management System, ensuring adherence to MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) regulations including:
- Serve as the named Quality Controller on HPS’s MHRA Manufacturer/Importer Licence (MIA), Specials Manufacturing Licence, and IM & P Licences, with full responsibility for compliance with the Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Distributors.
- Act as the named Responsible Person (RP) on the Wholesale Dealer Authorisation (WDA(H)) license, overseeing compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
- Oversee continuous improvement of quality processes to align with evolving regulatory expectations.

Operational Responsibilities
- Managing the Quality Control and Assurance departments, including headcount and resource allocation.
- Ensuring strict compliance with national and statutory standards across operations.
- Serving as Emergency Cover (out-of-hours) for HPS to provide resilience and continuity.
Strategic & Purpose-Led Leadership
- Collaborate with the HPS Senior Management Team, contributing to strategic business development and service innovation.
- Lead and oversee special projects as directed by the Managing Director, driving process optimization and quality enhancements.
- Champion risk management within Quality functions, identifying, mitigating, and monitoring compliance within regulatory frameworks.

Reports to: Dr Burrinder Grewal (Managing Director) In collaboration with: HPS Senior Management Team, Operations, and other relevant departments.
