Head of Quality

Lead Quality. Shape Strategy. Drive Innovation.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Quality to join a growing, innovative organisation operating at the forefront of advanced therapies.

This is a strategic leadership role where you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Shape and evolve the Quality Management System
  • Influence organisational strategy
  • Lead Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Validation functions in a highly regulated GMP environment
  • Ensure the highest standards of quality, compliance, and patient safety while supporting the manufacture and release of life-changing therapies

Responsibilities

Strategic Quality Leadership

  • Develop and deliver the organisation’s Quality Strategy aligned to business objectives
  • Lead and continually improve the Pharmaceutical Quality System (PQS)
  • Champion a culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Provide strategic leadership across QA, QC, and Validation functions

Quality & Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain and enhance the electronic Quality Management System (eQMS)
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with GMP, MHRA, HTA, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Lead regulatory inspections, customer audits, and supplier qualification activities
  • Oversee deviations, CAPAs, change controls, complaints, and OOS investigations
  • Drive quality metrics and continuous improvement initiatives

Quality Control & Technical Oversight

  • Provide leadership across QC laboratories supporting advanced therapy manufacturing
  • Oversee analytical testing, validation, product release, and stability programmes
  • Ensure robust environmental monitoring and contamination control strategies
  • Support manufacturing through effective laboratory and quality oversight

Validation & Compliance

  • Lead validation strategies covering facilities, utilities, equipment, and laboratory systems
  • Ensure qualification and validation activities meet current regulatory expectations
  • Maintain compliant laboratory environments supporting GMP manufacture

Leadership

  • Inspire, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary Quality teams
  • Build capability through coaching, training, and succession planning
  • Partner with senior leadership to support business growth and operational excellence

About You

We’re looking for an experienced Quality leader who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to inspire teams and drive organisational change.

You’ll bring:

  • A MSc (or equivalent) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline
  • Significant senior Quality leadership experience within GMP manufacturing, ideally in Cell & Gene Therapy or Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs)
  • Extensive knowledge of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Validation, and Pharmaceutical Quality Systems
  • Experience leading MHRA and HTA inspections and interacting with regulatory authorities
  • Expertise in contamination control, environmental monitoring, and laboratory quality systems
  • A strong understanding of analytical methods, microbiology, and product release activities
  • A track record of developing high-performing teams and embedding a culture of quality
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
