Job Title: Head of Retention @ High-Growth D2C Performance Agency
Location: Fully Remote (UK-Based)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 DOE
A fast-growing, ecommerce-focused performance marketing agency is looking for a Head of Retention to build and lead their email marketing function from the ground up.
The agency partners exclusively with D2C and ecommerce brands, delivering performance marketing systems built around profit and growth. With a high-energy, ownership-driven culture and an ambitious leadership team, they're now investing in retention as a core revenue driver, and need the right person to own it completely.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior, department-defining role with full autonomy over strategy, team, tech stack, and client delivery. You'll be the agency's foremost authority on email and lifecycle marketing, working directly with the Managing Director and Founder to shape the function at a pivotal moment of growth.
If you thrive in a high-ownership environment, want to build something that's genuinely yours, and have a proven track record driving retention results for ecommerce brands, this is the one.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the email and lifecycle marketing service across a D2C and ecommerce client portfolio
- Develop email marketing frameworks, automation playbooks, and segmentation strategies that drive measurable revenue
- Build repeatable processes and scalable delivery methodologies across all accounts
- Serve as senior strategic lead on all email accounts, leading QBRs and growing client relationships
- Build and lead the email marketing team, defining structure, hiring, and developing talent
- Oversee campaign planning and delivery: promotional sends, transactional flows, and complex automations
- Define and track KPIs including revenue per email, list growth, deliverability, and CLV
- Act as the agency's thought leader on email marketing trends and platform innovation

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
