Head of Risk & Controls
Head of Risk & Controls – Insurance
Location: London | Hybrid
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Risk & Controls professional to join a growing insurance business in a newly created position.
This is a highly visible role focused on strengthening the organisation's controls environment, overseeing assurance activity, and working closely with senior stakeholders to embed effective risk management across the business.
About the Role
- Lead the Risk & Controls framework.
- Oversee Internal Audit relationships.
- Coordinate assurance programs and monitor control effectiveness.
- Support Board and Committee reporting.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to embed a proactive controls culture.
- Build strong relationships across the business to challenge constructively and drive accountability.

Experience Required
- Senior experience in Risk & Controls within Insurance.
- A strong understanding of governance, risk management, and control frameworks.
- The confidence and gravitas to influence senior stakeholders and Executive-level audiences.
- Experience managing assurance programmes, audit oversight, or control remediation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex issues into practical solutions.
- Experience in the London Insurance Market, Lloyd’s, or an MGA would be advantageous.
