Head of Safeguarding

Head of Safeguarding – Strategic Leadership Role

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of Safeguarding to lead the delivery of outstanding safeguarding practice across our organisation.

This is a high-profile, strategic leadership role, where you will work closely with the Chief Nursing Officer and wider Quality team to ensure statutory safeguarding requirements are met while continuously improving outcomes for the people we serve.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Shaping our safeguarding strategy
  • Driving a culture of continuous learning
  • Ensuring safeguarding is embedded across every level of the organisation

Note: This is a single vacancy advertised across multiple UK locations to maximise reach, as the role is primarily remote. Applicants must submit one application only; duplicates will not be considered.

About the Role

As Head of Safeguarding, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Expert leadership and oversight of safeguarding across adults and children’s services
  • Strategy and improvement leadership by developing and implementing safeguarding policies
  • Robust governance, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance across all safeguarding functions
  • Data-driven decision-making to analyse safeguarding incidents, identify risks, and recommend improvements
  • Collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to promote best practice
  • Senior representation in safeguarding forums, partnerships, and governmental-level discussions

While this role does not require direct line management, you will:

  • Provide regular 1:1 engagement and professional support to nine Safeguarding Leads across the organisation
  • Foster capability development to ensure consistent, high standards of safeguarding

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Allied Health Professional (HCPC)
  • Relevant degree and postgraduate qualification at Master’s level (or equivalent experience)
  • Senior-level safeguarding leadership experience (e.g., Head of Safeguarding, national-level roles)
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding requirements for adults and children
  • Leadership/management qualification
  • Proven experience in influencing safeguarding at strategy or national levels
  • Strong expertise in safeguarding governance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in safeguarding

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
