Alpha Scientific is at the forefront of chemical and microbiological testing, reliably providing organisations with detailed analysis of water and air quality.
We are a team of highly skilled and trained scientists who work from purpose-built, UKAS accredited laboratories in Sittingbourne, Slough and Manchester.
Now part of the Genuit Groups’ Climate Management Solutions (CMS) business unit, Alpha has ambitious growth plans.
The Role
To lead and scale Alpha’s sales function, building a high-performing, customer focused team that drives sustainable revenue growth through strategic customer acquisition, retention, and positioning Alpha as a trusted commercial water-testing solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the Alpha Scientific commercial testing sales revenue budget through targeted client acquisition and account growth, unlocking new market opportunities and driving expansions across key sectors.
- Establish effective and long-term partnerships with Water Treatment companies, Commissioning firms, Healthcare organisations, Councils and other key players in the Water Hygiene Market.
- Identify new customer, market and service opportunities, working with the Marketing team to develop and execute:
- Developing the sales strategy and implementing tactical sales plans aligned to business objectives
- Lead on major bids, tenders, and commercial negotiations
- Drive continuous improvement in our pricing structure and tools, in collaborations with the Finance Director
- Educate the market on the value of Alpha’s solutions to develop the overall category and cross-selling of Genuit products.
- Build and develop relationships with key industry figures to raise the profile of Alpha Scientific through the Water Treatment and Water Hygiene industries.
- Advocate for evolving UK regulations, guidance and industry best practices.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Business Development Managers to drive demand generation
- Meet sales and financial objectives forecasting requirements; performance tracking against KPIs, preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances; initiating corrective action
- Champion the voice of the customer, ensuring Alpha’s services evolve with market needs
- Partner with the laboratories and business leaders to develop the service offering to continually drive up service delivery.
- Help diversify the division’s current analytical offering by highlighting areas of client demand including development of the drop-off and collection network as required.
- Maintains and expands customer base by coaching team; maintaining and growing relationships with key customers; identifying new opportunities
- Work closely with the laboratories to ensure a seamless transition of accounts into the Alpha Scientific business.
- Represent and promote the Alpha brand, culture and uphold the company’s trademark behaviours
- Achieve the required targeted Sales Growth and profitability target as set by the business
- Delivering presentations professionally, confidently and effectively to new and prospective customers promoting Alpha’s services and brand values
- Time management - Organise appointments in advance to maximise productivity and to make full use of your time
- Ensure effective CRM usage, reporting, and pipeline management
- Attend events, evening and weekend work will be required
- Be an active member of the Alpha Management Team; attend all required Sales/Management Meetings
- Complete required reporting to the business, promptly and with the required detail.
- Ensure all team members are following company procedures

- Proven track record of business development and exceeding sales targets on a regular basis.
- Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing sales teams.
- Proven track record of delivering against KPIs, forecasting and delivering revenue growth.
- Proven experience of dealing with a wide variety of people in a customer care environment.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining customer relationships.
- Ability to work cross functionally and manage internal stakeholders
- Confident in all Office 365 applications
- Understanding of laboratory test methods for chemistry and microbiology, with previous experience of selling analytical services
- Always demonstrates integrity and professionalism
- Empowering others – delegation of trust, correct controls, feedback, communicate accountability and responsibility
- Effective communication and influencing skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels
