About BuzzGen

BuzzGen is a growing digital marketing agency supporting businesses across the Midlands and throughout the UK. We deliver a range of results-focused marketing services, including SEO, social media management, Google Ads, Meta Ads, direct sales email campaigns and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO). As we enter the next stage of our growth, we are looking for an experienced and ambitious Sales & Account Manager to take ownership of our sales activity while helping us retain and grow our existing client base.

The role

This is a hybrid sales and account management position, combining new business development with ongoing client relationship management. You will be responsible for generating new opportunities, managing prospects through the sales process and converting them into long-term BuzzGen clients. You will also manage a portfolio of existing accounts, ensuring campaigns remain aligned with client objectives and identifying opportunities to expand the services we provide.

This is a senior and highly autonomous role. As the most senior person responsible for sales, you will have the opportunity to shape BuzzGen’s sales strategy, introduce your own ideas and build the foundations of a future sales department.

For the right person, the position could develop into a Head of Sales or Commercial Director role, with the potential for future share or ownership opportunities.

Sales responsibilities

You will take ownership of new business development across BuzzGen’s core services, with a particular focus on SEO, social media management, Google Ads, Meta Ads, direct sales email campaigns and GEO. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prospecting for new business through cold calling, email outreach, networking, referrals and strategic partnerships
  • Responding to inbound enquiries and qualifying prospective clients
  • Leading discovery calls and understanding each prospect’s commercial objectives
  • Presenting suitable marketing packages and clearly communicating the value of BuzzGen’s services
  • Creating proposals, following up with prospects and managing opportunities through to close
  • Managing outbound sales campaigns, including email campaigns and advertising-led lead generation
  • Building and maintaining a healthy sales pipeline
  • Keeping sales records, activities and opportunities up to date within the company CRM
  • Supporting the Founder with the development and implementation of company-wide sales strategies
  • Identifying new markets, partnerships, packages and commercial opportunities
  • Representing BuzzGen at networking events, meetings and relevant industry opportunities
  • Monitoring sales performance and reporting against agreed targets
  • Taking ownership of your own sales initiatives rather than relying solely on leads provided by the business

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Account management responsibilities

Alongside new business development, you will manage and nurture relationships with existing BuzzGen clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a key point of contact for an allocated portfolio of clients
  • Building strong, trusted and commercially valuable client relationships
  • Organising and leading monthly client meetings
  • Preparing meeting agendas and ensuring agreed actions are recorded, assigned and completed
  • Working with the creative and delivery teams to onboard new clients successfully
  • Ensuring client campaigns remain aligned with the agreed brief, objectives and expectations
  • Supporting the day-to-day coordination of client campaigns
  • Helping the creative team prepare clear and useful campaign reports
  • Explaining campaign performance and recommendations to clients
  • Managing client expectations and addressing concerns before they become larger issues
  • Identifying opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional BuzzGen services
  • Supporting contract renewals and longer-term client retention
  • Gathering feedback and helping the wider team continuously improve the client experience

Targets and expectations

Performance within the role will be measured across both sales and account management. Key measures are likely to include:

  • New monthly recurring revenue generated
  • Number and value of new clients won
  • Sales pipeline value and conversion rate
  • Outbound activity and qualified opportunities created
  • Client retention and renewal rates
  • Revenue generated through upselling and cross-selling
  • Client satisfaction and relationship quality
  • Accuracy and consistency of CRM and account management processes
  • Contribution to the overall growth of BuzzGen

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of these targets and proactively develop plans to achieve them.

  • Experience selling SEO, social media management, Google Ads, Meta Ads or similar marketing packages
  • A strong track record of achieving or exceeding B2B sales targets
  • Experience conducting cold calls and proactive outbound prospecting

Personal qualities

This role would suit someone who is:

  • Ambitious, driven and motivated by results
  • Confident and persuasive without being overly aggressive or pushy
  • Comfortable taking responsibility for both successes and setbacks
  • A proactive self-starter who does not need to be closely managed
  • Commercially minded and always looking for opportunities to grow accounts
  • Resilient and comfortable with the realities of outbound sales
  • Professional, personable and able to build rapport with different types of business owners and decision-makers
  • Highly organised and able to balance new business activity with existing client responsibilities
  • Hungry to build something rather than simply inherit an established sales function
  • Excited by the opportunity to grow alongside an ambitious agency

Working arrangements

The role will primarily be remote, although regular travel may be required for client meetings, networking events, sales opportunities and internal team sessions. You must therefore:

  • Be willing and able to travel when required
  • Have access to reliable transport where necessary
  • Have a suitable home office setup
  • Maintain a professional and confidential working environment
  • Have a reliable internet connection and appropriate equipment for video meetings and sales calls
  • Be available and responsive during agreed working hours

Commission and progression

The role will include a competitive commission and performance-related bonus structure, rewarding both new business generation and the retention and growth of existing accounts.

As BuzzGen grows, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and lead the sales function, recruit additional team members and take on broader commercial responsibility.

Potential progression opportunities include:

  • Sales Director
  • Commercial Director
  • Managing Director
  • Future share or ownership opportunities, subject to performance and the continued growth of the company

Why join BuzzGen?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a commercially important role within a growing agency. You will have the freedom to introduce new ideas, shape our sales approach and make a direct contribution to the future of the business. Rather than joining a large, rigid sales department, you will have the opportunity to build a function, influence company strategy and progress into a senior leadership position.

Application process

Please submit your CV together with a brief introduction outlining:

  • Your experience selling digital marketing services
  • Examples of sales targets you have achieved
  • Your experience managing and retaining client accounts
  • Why you believe you would be a good fit for BuzzGen
