About Mitie Power & Grid
Mitie Power & Grid combines three ICP business units—G2 Energy, ESM Power, and Rock Power Connections—with Custom Solar, the UK’s leading behind-the-meter solar PV installer.
With over 400 specialist professionals across our ICP and solar teams—connected to thousands more engineering experts within Mitie—we are one of the UK’s largest and most experienced providers of grid connection and renewable energy services. Our capabilities span grid application, design, equipment procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, operations, and maintenance, focusing on solar, wind, battery energy storage (BESS), EV infrastructure, and decarbonisation integrated projects.
The Role: Head of Sales
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Sales to lead and drive the commercial growth of our Power and Grid Business Unit. This role assumes full ownership across a £3bn opportunity portfolio, encompassing Solar, Electric Vehicles (EV), Grid, and Battery Storage, aligned with the UK’s transformative £54bn National Grid design programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire, and manage a cross-functional sales team across four business units
- Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with ambitious growth objectives
- Identify and capitalise on market opportunities in decarbonisation, renewables, and grid transformation
- Build deep client relationships and strategic partnerships to expand Mitie’s commercial footprint
- Monitor and report on KPIs, pipeline health, and market trends to enable data-driven decision-making
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align sales strategies with business-wide growth goals
- Represent Mitie in high-level industry forums and client engagements
Technical Expertise & Client Integration
Your technical and commercial acumen will be centred around:
- Deep industry expertise: Power systems, grid infrastructure, transmission/distribution, smart grids, and decentralised energy
- Renewable energy mastery: Solar PV, EV infrastructure, and battery storage—assessing feasibility, deployment, and integration into client portfolios.
- Decarbonisation roadmaps: Ability to align Net Zero strategies with client-facing technical and commercial vision.
- Regulatory and funding alignment: Experience with large-scale initiatives like the £54bn National Grid programme and alignment with evolving public and private sector objectives.
- Digital and analytical tools: Working with energy platforms, analytics, and intelligent building management systems (BMS) to deliver actionable commercial insights.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
