About Us

Mitie Power & Grid brings together three ICP business units—G2 Energy, ESM Power, and Rock Power Connections—alongside Custom Solar, the UK's leading behind-the-meter solar PV installer.

With over 400 specialist professionals across our ICP and solar teams—and access to thousands more engineering experts within Mitie—we are one of the UK's largest and most experienced providers of grid connection and renewable energy services. We offer a comprehensive suite of specialist services across grid application, design, equipment procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and ongoing operations and maintenance. Our focus is on supporting decarbonisation through projects including utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage (BESS), and EV infrastructure.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Sales to lead and drive the commercial growth of our Power and Grid Business Unit. This pivotal role will take ownership of business development across a £3 billion opportunity portfolio spanning Solar, Electric Vehicles (EV), Grid, and Battery Storage — all within the framework of the UK's transformative £54 billion National Grid design programme.

Main Duties

  • Lead, inspire, and manage a cross-functional sales team across four Business Units
  • Develop and implement sales strategies that align with ambitious growth objectives
  • Identify and leverage market opportunities within decarbonisation, renewables, and grid transformation sectors
  • Build deep client relationships and strategic partnerships to expand commercial footprint
  • Track and report on KPIs, pipeline health, and market trends to support data-driven decision-making
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align sales efforts with overall business strategy
  • Represent the company in industry forums and high-level client engagements

Technical Expertise and Client Integration

  • Deep understanding of power systems and grid infrastructure, including transmission, distribution, smart grid technologies, and interconnectivity with decentralised energy systems
  • Proficient in renewable energy applications (Solar PV, EV infrastructure, Battery Storage) and able to assess feasibility, deployment, and integration into existing estates
  • Skilled in developing decarbonisation strategies and low-carbon technology roadmaps aligned with Net Zero goals
  • Experience working within or alongside large-scale regulatory and funding initiatives such as the £54bn National Grid design programme, enabling strategic alignment with evolving government and industry objectives
  • Familiarity with digital platforms, energy analytics, and intelligent building management systems (BMS) to identify operational efficiencies across client portfolios

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
