Job Summary
Reporting to the Dean of Faculty, the Head of School will provide strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of school activity, including:
- Academic provision
- Staff management
- Student experience
- Resource planning
You will be a key member of the Faculty Management Team, contributing to the delivery of Faculty and University strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading Academic Communities:
- Lead and manage the School as a dynamic environment focusing on excellence in teaching, learning, research, and knowledge exchange.
- Enhancing Teacher Education:
- Sustain and enhance outstanding teacher education provision, ensuring continued excellence in:
- Outcomes
- Student experience
- Ofsted readiness

- Strategic Growth:
- Deliver ambitious growth through:
- Home and international recruitment
- New programme development
- Enterprise opportunities

- Student Experience:
- Champion excellent student experience, informed by:
- Sector data (e.g., NSS, Graduate Outcomes, PTES/PRES)
- Continuous improvement strategies

Candidate Requirements
You will bring:
- Established Academic Leadership:
- Proven track record of academic leadership and team management.
- Ability to translate strategy into operational success.
- Teacher Education Expertise:
- Significant experience in teacher education, including knowledge of:
- Ofsted requirements
- Inspection and enhancement processes
- Significant experience in teacher education, including knowledge of:
- Teaching, Learning & Research Impact:
- Strong profile in teaching and learning, alongside:
- An emerging or established record of research and/or knowledge exchange.
- Strong profile in teaching and learning, alongside:
- Curriculum and Partnership Development:
- Experience in curriculum innovation.
- Domestic and international partnership development and growth.
- Resource Management:
- Proven ability to manage resources and budgets effectively in higher education contexts.
