Head of Seating & Trim Development at Aston Martin

We are currently seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of Seating & Trim Development to lead the delivery and evolution of our seating and interior trim commodities across current and future vehicle programmes.

The Opportunity

As Head of Seating & Trim Development, you will play a pivotal leadership role within Body Engineering, overseeing the teams responsible for seating systems and interior trim development. This position combines strategic leadership with technical expertise, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative seating and trim solutions that meet highest standards of quality, performance, cost, and timing.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and senior leadership, you will:

  • Shape the future direction of seating and trim development
  • Build and develop a high-performing team capable of delivering world-class vehicle interiors

What You'll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end development of seating systems and interior trim commodities across multiple vehicle programmes
  • Provide strategic direction and technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle
  • Drive commodity strategies, manage cross-functional engineering activities, and ensure alignment across design, manufacturing, procurement, quality, and programme teams
  • Oversee design reviews, validation activities, virtual and physical build phases, and issue resolution initiatives to ensure successful programme delivery

Focus Areas:

Commodity Ownership:

  • Ensure high-quality engineering documentation, robust problem-solving activities, and effective contingency plans

Team Leadership:

  • Define the future strategy of the trim development function
  • Strengthen the bolt-up and trim assembly process
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build strong internal and external relationships
  • Work with suppliers to assess manufacturing feasibility
  • Benchmark industry-leading solutions
  • Present technical recommendations and programme updates to senior stakeholders, including executive leadership

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a proven leader with:

  • Significant experience in automotive seating and interior trim development
  • A strong track record of delivering complex engineering programmes from concept to production

Key Requirements:

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in leading cross-functional teams
  • Development of innovative seating solutions in a fast-paced product development environment
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Automotive development processes
    • Manufacturing methods
    • Validation activities
    • Engineering documentation
    • Quality methodologies (DFMEA)

Business Acumen:

  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience in budget management, resource planning, supplier engagement, and risk management

Communication and Influence:

  • Ability to effectively influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Present technical information with confidence and clarity

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline (advantageous, though equivalent industry experience will be considered)
