The Head of Site Operations

The Head of Site Operations is accountable for leading and managing site operations services across The Hillingdon Hospital, including the Hillingdon and Mount Vernon sites.

Responsibilities

The post holder will provide strategic leadership for Site Operations, coordinating activity, resolving operational issues, and working closely with senior and executive colleagues, internally and externally, to deliver key Trust objectives, including patient access standards and safe discharge to the community.

The post holder will:

  • Lead the management of site pressures, respond to operational challenges, and identify and implement process improvements to strengthen site management.
  • Be responsible and accountable for delivering financial, quality, performance, workforce and productivity targets.
  • Horizon scan and develop actions and mitigations for external changes.
  • Support Trust-wide improvement initiatives, contribute to quality priorities, provide clinical advice for Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response, and support the integrated site clearance plan and redevelopment programme.
  • Be accountable for delivering the actions and outcomes relevant to their portfolio.
  • Embody the Trust’s CARES values, demonstrate commitment to the Trust’s core strategies, ambitions and goals, and place patients at the heart of everything they do.

Strategic and Operational Leadership

  • Lead site operations across hospital sites, ensuring effective patient flow, capacity management and resolution of operational pressures.

Performance, Quality and Governance

  • Accountable for delivery of financial, performance, workforce and quality targets.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. CQC, national reporting) and maintain robust assurance systems.
  • Oversee monitoring, reporting and escalation of KPIs, risks, incidents and complaints.

Patient Flow and Discharge

  • Provide assurance that admission and discharge processes deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

Workforce Leadership and Culture

  • Lead, develop and performance manage multidisciplinary site teams, including Clinical Site Practitioners.

System and Partnership Working

  • Represent the Trust at system level and contribute to integrated care and discharge planning.

Emergency Preparedness and Site Management

  • Lead Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) for the site and participate in the on-call rota.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Manage delegated budgets and contribute to financial balance, productivity and cost improvement programmes.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives and service redesign to enhance patient outcomes and efficiency.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
