This is a hybrid role (office-first), with three days a week on-site and two days remote, flexible around operational needs.
About the Role
As Director of Social Impact, you’ll lead London Gatwick’s efforts to:
- Drive economic partnerships and community investment, fostering future employment and business growth
- Ensure full compliance with legal requirements and seamless alignment across the business
- Integrate noise management strategies with operational teams and partners, maintaining compliance and community engagement
- Act as a key liaison between the business and external stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Strategy
- Manage the Social Impact team, fostering development and alignment with wider business priorities
- Lead budget planning and financial management across the team
- Develop and implement an integrated Social Impact Plan, covering:
- Economic partnerships
- Community investment
- Education and employment initiatives
- Noise management strategy
- Ensure all activities align with legal/statutory requirements and Decade of Change goals

Stakeholder & Public Engagement
- Proactively engage with stakeholders (including Public Affairs, local authorities, and community representatives)
- Represent London Gatwick in external fora, delivering tailored presentations to diverse audiences
- Drive community consultation and research, leveraging platforms like the GAL noise engagement programme
- Collaborate with the communications team to share company vision, identify storytelling opportunities, and maintain a positive external presence
Performance & Reporting
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs), with a focus on Decade of Change goals 1, 4, and 5
- Ensure accurate measurement and reporting of social impact and sustainability outcomes, adhering to best practice
Requirements
Experience and skillset requirements for this role include:
- Proven leadership in social impact, with experience in:
- Managing teams through change and complexity
- Public consultation and partnership working
- Stakeholder engagement, including influencing skills and resilience under pressure
- Project and delivery management expertise, ensuring cross-team alignment
- External representation skills, with a track record of:
- Public speaking
- Tailoring communications for diverse audiences
- Regional insight beneficial:
- Knowledge of Sussex, Surrey, and Kent demographics and Gatwick’s regional impact
- Familiarity with social impact/sustainability reporting frameworks
- Hybrid-work ready: Contrast between on-site and remote collaboration, and adapting to operational demands
