I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the Role and Team
We're looking for a Head of Special Projects to sit at the heart of the Marketing leadership team, driving the strategic initiatives that don't fit neatly into a single team's day-to-day remit but are critical to the function's success. This role is part strategist, part operator, and part fixer—someone who can take ambiguous, high-priority problems, bring structure to them, and drive them to completion with and through the wider marketing organization.
You'll work directly with the CMO and senior marketing leaders on the initiatives that matter most: new market or brand launches, major campaign or partnership rollouts, cross-functional transformation programs, budget and process improvements, and the inevitable fires that need a safe pair of hands. This is a high visibility role for someone who wants exposure across the entire marketing function and the broader business.
What You Will Focus On
- Lead high priority strategic initiatives end to end from scoping and business casing through execution, working closely with marketing, product, data, finance, and regional teams.
- Act as a trusted right hand to the marketing leadership, translating strategic priorities into structured plans, workstreams, and measurable outcomes.
- Own cross-functional programme management for major marketing initiatives (e.g., brand launches, agency transitions, martech implementations, org changes), ensuring clear ownership, timelines, and accountability.
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks within marketing, improving how the function plans, prioritizes, and executes work.
- Prepare senior level materials, board updates, strategy documents, business reviews synthesizing complex information into clear recommendations.
- Drive process and efficiency improvements, including budget management, planning cycles, and marketing operating rhythms.
- Parachute into ambiguous or urgent problems across the marketing function, quickly building context and driving them toward resolution.
- Build strong relationships across the business, acting as a connective layer between marketing and other functions such as Product, Data, Finance, Legal, and Compliance.
What You Bring to the Table
- Significant experience (typically 6-10+ years) in strategy, consulting, chief-of-staff, business/marketing operations, or general management roles, ideally with exposure to marketing or growth functions.
- A track record of leading complex, ambiguous, cross-functional projects from scoping to delivery.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with comfort moving between big-picture strategy and detailed execution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing materials for senior stakeholders or leadership teams.
- Proven ability to influence and drive alignment across teams without direct authority.
- Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where priorities can shift quickly.
- Experience in fintech, payments, remittances, retail, or a high-growth consumer tech company is a strong plus.
- A genuine interest in Zepz's mission of making global money movement more accessible.

AI Literacy & Tools
As Zepz continues to build AI into how we work, we expect everyone to engage with it as a core part of their role. For this position, we are looking for:
- A genuine curiosity about AI and how it can be applied in your area of work—from accelerating analysis and insight generation to improving how we design and deliver processes and communications.
- Practical experience using AI tools in a professional context—whether to connect information, draft content, build frameworks, or create insights from data. We want people who actively use AI to increase productivity, not those who are waiting to be told to.
- Strong AI literacy—an understanding of what AI assistants can and cannot do, how to prompt effectively, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated output before using it.
- Awareness of the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in the workplace, particularly in the context of sensitive data, customer experience, and compliance.
- Prior experience using Claude (Anthropic) is a nice-to-have but not essential—what matters most is that you are genuinely engaged with AI as a tool, comfortable experimenting, and eager to share what works with your wider team.
If you want to join us in our journey to help break barriers in financial access and improve lives globally, there's no better place or time to join.
Our global team of 800+ people is spread across six continents. We aspire to hire the best mix of people from former Olympians to YouTube influencers, and we speak over twenty languages. This incredible diversity isn't a bonus; it's the engine that lets us serve the world.
