Join SGN's Strategy & Regulation directorate in a pivotal leadership role supporting the Chief Strategy & Regulation Officer (CSRO).
This is a secondment opportunity for 6–12 months to cover part of the Director of Strategic Governance and Performance responsibilities during a period of maternity leave.
Role Overview
As Head of Strategic Governance & Performance, you will lead the directorate's approach to performance, governance, risk and compliance, ensuring effective oversight, robust decision-making and successful delivery of strategic objectives.
Acting as a trusted advisor to the CSRO, you will help shape priorities, support executive decision-making and represent the function in key forums. The role is responsible for driving cross-divisional coordination, overseeing strategy execution, managing senior leadership governance forums, and identifying and resolving risks and delivery bottlenecks. Through providing clear insight, challenge and assurance, you will ensure the CSRO and wider leadership team operate with focus, clarity and maximum strategic effectiveness while delivering SGN's long-term objectives safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee SGN's strategic governance, performance and risk management frameworks, ensuring effective oversight and compliance across the organisation.
- Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the Chief Strategy & Regulation Officer, shaping priorities, supporting decision-making and driving executive engagement.
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the CSRO Office, coordinating strategic priorities, stakeholder engagement and delivery across Strategy & Regulation.
- Provide high-quality insight, reporting, analysis and board papers to support Executive and Board decision-making and organisational performance.
- Oversee integrated business performance reporting and KPI frameworks, ensuring risks, opportunities and delivery issues are identified, escalated and addressed.
- Drive accountability, continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration through effective governance, strong stakeholder relationships and the Target Operating Model.
Requirements
- Degree qualified or work experience equivalent
- Professional qualification in programme or project management (e.g. MSP, Prince2, APM, Agile) or equivalent experience.
- Change management (Prosci/APMG) desirable.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with Executive and Board-level audiences.
- Highly collaborative, with the ability to build credibility, influence outcomes and establish effective relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- Politically astute and diplomatic, with sound judgement and the ability to navigate complex organisational environments.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality outputs.
