Role Description

Electrium is seeking a visionary and forward-thinking Head of Strategic Procurement to join our leadership team based in the Manchester area.

This is an exceptional opportunity to shape procurement strategy, drive innovation, and deliver tangible business impact within one of the UK's most respected electrical manufacturing businesses.

The Head of Strategic Procurement will lead the procurement function, defining and implementing strategic sourcing plans that align with Electrium and Siemens business objectives. The role will be responsible for developing supplier strategies, managing key supplier relationships, conducting performance reviews, driving cost optimisation initiatives, and ensuring continuity of supply across critical product categories.

  • Working closely with operations, engineering, finance, and commercial teams, you will oversee contract negotiations, develop purchasing policies and frameworks, evaluate supply chain risks, and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and business performance.
  • A key aspect of this role will be leading the digital transformation of procurement processes, championing continuous improvement and adopting innovative tools and technologies that create competitive advantage.
  • You will also lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for a strategic procurement leader who can demonstrate:

  • Proven experience leading procurement teams and delivering successful sourcing strategies within manufacturing, industrial, or electrical sectors.
  • Strong expertise in supplier management, supplier evaluation, and supplier performance improvement.
  • Extensive contract negotiation experience, securing favourable commercial terms and managing long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Proven background in purchasing, procurement, category management, and cost optimisation.
  • Experience driving digital transformation and process improvement within procurement functions.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including business case development, budgeting, forecasting, and data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the adaptability to thrive in a dynamic business environment.
  • A results-oriented approach combined with a commitment to ethical standards, governance, and compliance.
  • A passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications such as CIPS are advantageous.
