Job Description Summary
This fixed-term Grade G role will lead the design, mobilisation and delivery of the Group’s Innovation Banking proposition. Working closely with Business & Commercial Banking leadership, Group Strategy and stakeholders across the Group, the successful candidate will translate strategy into a clear proposition, delivery roadmap and launch-ready plan.
The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, driving key decisions, coordinating complex stakeholder groups and delivering a high-profile growth initiative from concept to execution readiness.
Job Description
The Group Strategy team leads the development and ongoing review of the Group’s strategy, ensuring it is aligned with the Group’s vision and aspiration, financial plan and risk appetite.
This fixed-term Grade G role will be dedicated to supporting the design, mobilisation and delivery of the Innovation Banking proposition for the Group. The person in this role will work closely with Business & Commercial Banking leadership, Group Strategy, and other groups. They will bring structure, pace, and ownership to a high-profile pan-Group priority.
The role will be responsible for turning strategy into a clear proposition, delivery roadmap and set of decision-ready recommendations to launch. This will include coordinating collaborators, managing dependencies with external consultants and internal teams, and driving progress across proposition design, client targeting, regional focus, credit appetite, branding, operating model and launch planning.
The role will be challenging, varied and high impact, providing the opportunity to shape an important strategic initiative from design through to execution readiness.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the Innovation Banking Workstream: Manage the development and rollout of the Innovation Banking proposition, coordinating closely with Business & Commercial Banking leadership.
- Strategic Decision-Making: Define key decisions, develop strategic options, and use analysis to support recommendations, ensuring they are captured and translated into actionable plans.
- Proposition Development: Build the Innovation Banking proposition, focusing on priority client segments, innovation clusters, geographic focus, and propositional gaps. Build and coordinate a comprehensive launch and development roadmap, including pre-announcement requirements and post-MVP dependencies and risks.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with teams across credit risk, marketing, regional relationship management, client coverage, and product areas to align delivery models and client engagement approaches.
- Collaborator Engagement: Establish strong working rhythms with internal collaborators and external consultants, ensuring outputs are commercially grounded and connected to delivery.
- High-Quality Communication: Develop compelling materials to communicate findings, options, recommendations, and progress to senior collaborators.
- Model LBG Culture: Build collaborative relationships, provide constructive challenges, and support a more action-focused approach within Group Strategy.
- Mentorship and Development: Develop colleagues through mentorship, guideline sharing, and active collaboration.

Skills and Experience
- Principal-level experience at a top-tier management consulting firm is required.
- Experience as a senior VP or director in an FS-focused investment banking franchise is also relevant.
- Leading high-impact strategic engagements in-house is considered.
Required Capabilities
- Financial Services Expertise: Solid experience in financial services with the capability to apply strategic, commercial, and analytical judgment to complex business-build agendas.
- Execution Excellence: Proven ability to move from strategy to action, crafting propositions, defining operating models, building roadmaps, and driving delivery across multiple collaborators.
- Independent Leadership: Ability to independently lead and manage high-profile engagements, bringing clarity to ambiguous issues and crafting decision-ready recommendations.
- Technical Proficiency: Solid grasp of legal, regulatory, risk, and compliance matters within financial services.
- Communication and Influence: Excellent communicator with the ability to develop positive relationships and compose materials that clarify complex issues.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence senior collaborators, providing constructive challenges as needed.
- Project Management: Effective use of project planning and delivery management techniques to manage complex workstreams and ensure alignment with business needs.
- Business Insight: Deep understanding of the business environment, including innovation, commercial banking, fintech, and competitive dynamics.
- Team Development: Ability to provide constructive feedback, share guidelines, and contribute to the development of colleagues and overall team performance.
